The UK’s largest home improvement and garden centre retailer sells
more Christmas trees than any other, with customers snapping up over 300,000
last year. B&Q was the first large retailer to sell real Christmas trees
over 30 years ago.
60% of real Christmas trees sold at B&Q are grown in the UK, most of
which come from Eden Park in Aberdeen, a 1,500 acre plantation, which is
one of only a few British growers and home to over two million Christmas
trees.
Customers will be able to choose from a total of 6 different varieties of
real Christmas trees including the Nordman Fir, which are the best for low
needle drop. Of the trees B&Q sells, around 60% are Nordmann Firs. Festive
shoppers can also choose from the Norway Spruce, the Serbian Spruce and
potted Blue Spruce, amongst others. Prices start from £7.98.
Customers have already started buying Christmas decorations – the
Lapland-style knitted bootie ornaments are the most popular, selling 7,000
units since they went on sale 3 weeks ago.
