With the UK’s biggest festival kicking off this week, the UK’s
leading home improvement retailer is on hand to help those making the trip
to Worthy Farm and the many other festivals this summer by stocking up its
stores with its new camping essentials.
In the week before the Isle of Wight festival, sales of the retailer’s
newly introduced camping ranges rose over 35 per cent, and with demand for
the tents, sleeping bags and other essentials expected to rise in the next
couple of days across the country, B&Q is moving more camping stock
to stores to meet the demand.
Best sellers have been the two and four man starter tent kits, which include
everything from the tent, sleeping bags, airbeds, manual pump, foam mats
and a carry bag – almost all of the stock has been snapped up since
the range launched earlier this year, with the remaining stock expected
to be sold in the next few weeks with events like V-festival and Reading
and Leeds still to come this summer.
It’s not just camping gear that is flying off the shelves as revelers
descend on the countryside. Instant light charcoal and BBQs have been a
hit, and for the first time bosses are expecting these to be more popular
than wellies as the Met predicts blue skies and sunshine for the duration
of the festival season.
Caroline Stratford said; “Festivals are a great summer activity and
this year it looks like festival goers will be cooking on their BBQs rather
than being stuck in the mud in their wellies. Sales of our starter tent
kits have been a hit as campers get all they need to enjoy the music this
summer.”
