Peacocks, the UK’s hottest value fashion retailer reports a surge in sales of its £10 canvas sneaker as British women back the sensible style of Samantha Cameron, who exchanged stilettos for sneakers whilst canvassing for husband David.
British feet have breathed a sigh of relief as last season’s killer heels are relegated to the back of the wardrobe, as sales of canvas sneakers double on the month (March to April 2010), and the on the year (compared to 2009) at Peacocks’ stores nationwide.
Peacocks’ £10 canvas sneaker offers considerably greater value than its Converse counterpart (RRP £40). Grey is Peacocks’ best selling sneaker colour (comprising 65 per cent of total sales), with black, white, leopard print and silver also proving popular.
