Leading department store Selfridges is to launch the UK’s first city centre Christmas tree drive-through at its London store, marking the first time real Christmas trees will be sold on Oxford Street.
Selfridges’ Christmas tree drive-through will open on Edwards Mews (off Duke Street) at 11am today, and will remain open until Christmas Eve. The pop up Christmas tree station will be run by one of the biggest growers of high quality Christmas trees, Pedlars.
The trees – grown in the Scottish highlands - will be available in three sizes, ordered cut in a wooden stand or in a pot for replanting once festivities are over. Prices range from £40 to £60 depending on size of tree.
Shopping for Christmas trees has never been easier. The trees will be carried to customers’ cars (parked in Selfridges’ car park), supply string for those with roof racks and provide plastic sheeting to protect boots. A Christmas tree delivery service will be available for a cost of £20, for customers who can’t make it to Selfridges.
Geraldine James, Selfridges’ Christmas Shop Buying Manager said: “The real Christmas tree may be the ultimate traditional festive decoration, but as always Selfridges is the first to offer a modern twist with a Christmas tree drive through. Customers will be able to park in our car park, buy their decorations, order the turkey and collect a tree on their way out. Christmas has never been easier.”
Charlie Gladstone, Owner and Founder, Pedlars said: “We’re looking forward to supplying real trees for the first time at Selfridges’ Oxford Street. We have over 3,500 trees going to Selfridges Oxford Street in a variety of sizes, so there will be plenty of choice and no need for people to panic about Christmas trees running out this year.”
