‘Mantihose’ £70 by Unconditional, exclusive to Selfridges
Metrosexual mania shows no sign of slowing as Selfridges, the UK’s
leading department store launches its first collection of male hosiery for
autumn/winter 2009.
Selfridges’ ‘Mantihose’, produced by ‘Unconditional’
will launch later this week in stores nationwide, retailing for £70
a pair, available in black, beige and charcoal in one size for all. The
120 denier woven tights are produced from an exclusive blend of cotton and
Lycra, offering men’s legs increased comfort, warmth and support as
temperatures start to fall.
Demand for male hosiery has increased considerably over the past five years
with more men sporting tights for function, to create a leaner silhouette
under winter’s slim male suiting or to parade under this season’s
cropped or rolled up trousers.
For men looking to flaunt their leg attire to the max, Selfridges is launching
a male mini kilt (also by Unconditional) which will retail for £275.
David Walker-Smith, Selfridges' Director of Menswear and Beauty said: "This
winter the city’s most stylish men will have a secret weapon hidden
in their trousers. The ‘mantihose’ is extremely versatile and
we expect men to be wearing them not only as a way to give legs an extra
boost of warmth on the chilliest nights, but as a true style statement.
The 'mantihose' could only ever be launched in London, and is very Selfridges."
