Eco dollhouse set to be a Christmas best seller
- in Selfridges’ new toy department -

As concerns over the environment continue to dominate the media with adults
and kids alike exposed to the hard facts of global warming, a new energy
efficient dolls house it set to be one of the surprise Christmas 2009 best
sellers.
Available from Selfridges' new toy department launching today at the retailer’s
Oxford Street store, the Green Dollhouse by Plan Toys aims to help educate
young children from three years upwards about the environment, sustainability
and climate change.
The dollhouse’s energy efficient design includes a wind turbine,
a solar panel and electric inverter for generating electricity, a rain barrel
for collecting rain, a biofacade, which uses the natural cycle of plant
growth to provide shading, and a blind that can adjust the amount of sun
light and air circulation. Recycling bins are also included in the set.
Michael Berry, Selfridges’ Toy Shop Buyer says: “This house
is a wonderfully educational toy that will really inspire kids and through
play help them to become more aware about the environment around them. We
expect the Green Dollhouse to be a huge hit with parents this Christmas
and we are already starting to take orders in our new toy department.”
Continuing with an environmentally and socially responsible theme this Christmas,
Selfridges will also be selling a range of soft animal toys from WWF which
shares the desire to offer high-quality products that can be used as effective
tools to educate young people about the important issues effecting the planet
and animal world today.
Other top must have toys available at Selfridges this year includes the
new pre-school Waybuloo character, Barbie, Screature and Transformers characters.
