Sales of British produced goods have shown a marked increase at Selfridges'
stores in London, Manchester and Birmingham.
In the past month sales of Tiptree jam including Selfridges’ special
edition ‘The Great British Breakfast’ marmalade have increased
by 20 per cent, sales of English wines including Chapel Down Brut from Kent
are up by 20 per cent and sales of traditional brands including Twinings
English Breakfast tea and Paddington Marmite* have more than doubled.
Ewan Venters, Director of Food and Restaurants at Selfridges says: "Selfridges
is a huge supporter of British producers and it is great to see so many
of our customers flying the flag and buying British. We have recently seen
a significant increase in sales of British brands such as Tiptree jam and
English shortbread, which signifies a nostalgic return to tradition and
a growing popularity of all things British.”
