Ever wanted to eat your own weight in chocolate? Well now you can (almost) with the launch of the five stone chocolate egg at Selfridges, which weighs the same as the average nine year old boy. The luxurious solid milk chocolate egg, studded with hundreds of sugar diamonds, is so heavy that the store’s floor has had to be specially reinforced to hold its weight.
London’s heaviest egg which weighs five stone (70 lbs) is made by leading chocolatiers L’Artisan du Chocolat and is now available to order. Selfridges ‘egg’ vans will even be on hand for those in need of extra help delivering it to their door*.
Demand for the weighty egg is already high, with four orders having been placed at Selfridges over the last two days.
Ewan Venters, Selfridges’ Director of Food and Restaurants says: ‘The egg is the heaviest egg we have ever had in the store and is perfect for anyone planning a big party with family and friends this Easter – there is certainly enough to go round! The egg has been made by a team of chocolatiers who are passionate about luxury chocolate and so it really does taste as good as it looks.”
