TODAY Vogue Williams, the DJ, model and TV presenter, makes her jockey debut in her role as a Ladbrokes Ambassador at Goodwood Racecourse at 1.20pm (Thursday 1st August), competing in The Magnolia Cup over the five and a half furlong flat race, where she will be riding six –year-old horse The Magic Sign, trained by Richard Fahey.

Vogue has been training up to the race for the last four months in partnership with Ladbrokes and the leading British bookmaker has her priced at odds of 5-2 to win the prestigious Charity Race.

The 33 year old has had to train intensely over the last four months for the race, sometimes up to four times a week, and will be competing against 11 other riders in the race. She has been learning to ride racehorses under the tutelage of leading racehorse trainer Jim Boyle and has undertaken months of intensive practice at his Training establishment in South Hatch, Epsom, as well as facing rigorous fitness and riding assessments to ensure she is race-ready.

Speaking ahead of her big day Vogue Williams says: “When Ladbrokes approached me with the opportunity to train and ride in the Magnolia Cup, I jumped at the opportunity. It’s been a thrilling and challenging four months. I have worked hard with Jim Boyle and can’t thank him enough for all his advice and support and I’m also indebted to Richard Fahey for providing me with the horse and some great riding out experience in recent weeks too. This has been the most amazing experience. I feel like I’m ready to do myself justice and I can’t wait for the race and raising money for a worthy cause.”

Ladbrokes Head of PR Nicola McGeady says: “Learning to ride racehorses and developing the skills and fitness levels to ride in a horse race is a serious challenge for anyone and we’re delighted that Vogue has got this far; she’s been working extremely hard and looks in great shape for her debut. We are thrilled that she’s enjoyed the challenge to this point and now we will be cheering her on in the race. Vogue really wants to win and our odds suggest she has a serious chance.”
